Love it

Though I think you could add so much awesome stuff to this.

Very Helpful!

Me and my cousin have been through this tutorial several times. Almost everything we know about AS is from here.

Fun

But I don't know why you spent time inserting a 'climbing' script when you can simply fly.

Really clever!

Kudos to you my friend.

Thanks mate.

This is just a clone of StoneThrow

The above is the address to this game, it has already been submitted and though this isn't worthy of the whistle, I will try and blam it. We are all glad you have been able to successfully copy the game, but that does not mean you should post it.

The least you could do is have looked at the comments IOUPAIN got for his submission and fix a few of them. I gave plenty of suggestions last time.

So many problems

I'll say the good stuff first. The idea was alright, and a lot of the solutions show that you understand the basics of point and click puzzles. For that I'll give you a five.

This is the reason you lost the other five points.

Pretty much nothing made sense!

1. If he's locking her in a cage and rings you desperately looking for help, why doesn't she just escape with you? Why do you have to 'spoil the relationship'?

2. Boing dies several times (engulfed in fire, head comes off?)

3. You do realise you said it was a gun we were using, right? Ignoring the fact that they could hear it firing, and the fact bullets couldn't have done half the things they did (which made it incredibly hard to work out the puzzles) but COULDN'T I HAVE JUST SHOT THE GUY?
You know, I'm sitting there trying to work out how to electrocute the guy with an elevator button... a bullet to the head probably would have been easier.

4. There were a whole bunch of little things, but I think you get the idea.

Keep working on it. This shows promise.

Something about it

You know, this really reminded me of Cythera, graphically anyway. That instantly put me on side.

It felt a bit like you were flexing your action scripting muscles - as in it was way more complicated than it needed to be. And sure, your muscular figure is very impressive (just to stretch the analogy), but I didn't really know where to go, or if I was supposed to somehow pick up the gold, or if I was in the right dungeon or where all the merchants where etcetera.

It seemed as two games, a simple arcade game and a complex RPG, that never seemed to gel together. Still fun for a while though, but maybe there are two simpler games inside this one, wanting some room.

I do love the story behind it.

I did notice some of the same things myself and tried to help it with adding dialogue to the Guardian to tell you where to go.
This was the 4th or 5th iteration of the game, I was leaning more towards arcade and more towards RPG at some point.. didn't really like either as much as this.

Rough but Handy

This is a useful tutorial - let me just say that first, and I shall probably use it in my very next animation.

I do have a few small complaints. Your buttons, for example, need a bigger 'hit' area, and a couple of other small but annoying things, like the music stacking when you replay, that play testing would have revealed. No biggie though.

A little polish for a ten next time.

crayzrocker responds:

Yep.

Good

I especially appreciated the wider format, and that small pixelly look.

Well worth the 8 I rated it (that's good from me) but something was keeping it from excellence. I'm not sure, you know how that final touch is always so elusive, but I fancy it was something with the maps.

I would have preferred fewer maps, that lasted much longer but without repetition. I think a lot of your ideas were spread out spread out too much, many not deserving their own level. For example, having jumping puzzles with such a wide map worked against you in the end. Waiting for a platform to go aaall the way to other side, then aaall the way back again as you wait for the twentieth time does not a positive score encourage.

Good job anyway - memorable main character.

Keep it up.

Also

I too just wanted to say this is a great first attempt - and encourage you in further pursuits.

My main suggestion would be add a few more character animations. Really let people feel like he's running and jumping and landing ect... If you can get the main character right, people will forgive enemies and maps and such.
